Handguns - Chicago Style
May 21, 2010
Chicago Mayor Richard Daley became a little testy today when he was questioned by a reporter as to the effectiveness of Chicago's handgun ban. The Mayor, who at the time was holding up a rifle, offered to give a first-hand lesson --
"Oh, it's been very effective," Daley said to the reporter. "If I put this up your butt, you'll find out how effective it is. If I put a round up your a** you'll know."
Jacquelyn Heard, Daley's press secretary, later told the Chicago Sun-Times that Daley was somewhat exasperated because the individual asking the question -- a reporter from the Chicago Reader -- was "missing the point that unrestricted guns are a devastating issue" for the city.
"To illustrate the point, he offered what admittedly could be considered a less than ideal example, but it's one that is a stark reminder of how destructive gun violence has been," said Ms. Heard.
oh?
a reminder of how destructive gun violence is?
Shouldn't that be 'Mayor Daley' violence'?
The rifle didn't make the threat.
The Mayor did.
When the day comes that a gun makes a threat and actually does what the mayor threatened to do, let me know. Then I'll join you and go after all those violent guns.
Meanwhile lets remove the idiots who threaten us when they have guns in their hands.
